How notice deposits work
With a notice deposit, you tell the bank in advance that you want to withdraw β the bank then releases the funds after the notice period has elapsed (7 or 32 business days at Capitec). Until you give notice, the funds sit earning the published rate.
The trade-off is rate for flexibility: a 32-day notice pays roughly 80β100 basis points more than the equivalent instant-access account, in exchange for a one-month delay if you need to withdraw. You only pay the "notice cost" when you actually want the money β until then, your rate is locked.
Capitec lets you make multiple notices on different portions of the balance. You can also top up at any time β each top-up has its own notice clock, but the existing balance is not affected.
