Standard Bank Branch Code 2026

One universal code for every Standard Bank account.

Updated β€’ By Naledi van der Merwe β€’ Fact-checked

The Universal Code

Standard Bank uses ONE universal code for all accounts:

051001
Valid for EFTs
Valid for Salary Payments
Valid for All Standard Bank Accounts

No more guessing the branch

Standard Bank historically issued a different code to every branch. Today the universal code 051001 works for all of them β€” Sandton, Cape Town, Durban or a small rural agency.

Do I need a specific Standard Bank branch code?

For any domestic EFT, salary deposit, debit order or stop order to a Standard Bank account, 051001 is the only code you need.

Some older payroll systems and a handful of international forms still ask for a specific branch β€” in that case the recipient can find their original branch code in the Standard Bank app under Account information.
