The rebrand in plain English

  • · 22 January 2026: TymeBank became GoTyme Bank.
  • · Your account number, card and credentials carried over. You don't need to reapply.
  • · The TymeBank app is now the GoTyme Bank app after an automatic update — same install on your phone.
  • · Your money is protected by the same banking licence and SARB deposit-insurance rules.
  • · In March 2026 GoTyme started closing the Pick n Pay store kiosks and replacing them with mall-based Consumer Hubs. Cash deposits and withdrawals at Pick n Pay tills still work.

How to log in to GoTyme Bank

  1. 1

    Open the GoTyme Bank app

If you previously had the TymeBank app, it has updated automatically to GoTyme Bank. If not, download it from the Play Store or App Store — search "GoTyme Bank".

  2. 2

    Enter your registered cellphone number

The same number you used to open your TymeBank account.

  3. 3

Enter your 5-digit PIN — or use biometric login

Fingerprint or face ID is enabled in Settings → Security after first login.

  4. 4

Verify with OTP if you're on a new device

GoTyme will send a one-time PIN via SMS to your registered cellphone for added security.

How to open a GoTyme account (5 minutes, free)

  1. 1

    Download the GoTyme Bank app

Search "GoTyme Bank" on the Play Store or App Store.

  2. 2

    Enter your SA ID number

The app verifies against the Home Affairs database in real time.

  3. 3

Take a selfie for biometric verification

Liveness + face-match against Home Affairs photo. About 30 seconds.

  4. 4

    Set your 5-digit PIN

Memorise it — this is your daily login PIN.

  5. 5

Collect your physical Visa debit card (optional)

Walk into any participating Pick n Pay, Boxer or TFG store and pick up the card. The card is mailed to you on request too.

No proof of address or paper documents required at sign-up. Account is FICA-light at first; some features (higher Send Money limits) require uploading proof of address inside the app later.

No desktop internet banking — and why

Unlike FNB, Capitec or Standard Bank, GoTyme Bank has no full-feature desktop online banking site. The web presence (gotyme.co.za) is help articles, the Newsroom and login for personalised support — not a place to make transfers. Everything transactional happens in the mobile app. If you need desktop banking, GoTyme isn't the right bank for you.

Base rate

6%/yr

On any balance, instant access. No minimum, no penalty.

Boosted rate

10%/yr

Give 10 days' notice before full withdrawal. No partial withdrawals during the notice period.

GoalSave is held inside your transactional account — no separate application. Transferring in or out is instant inside the app.

Common login problems and fixes

"My PIN isn't working"

Tap "Forgot PIN" on the login screen. Verify with the OTP sent to your registered cellphone, then your ID number. You'll set a new PIN immediately.

"I'm locked out after too many attempts"

Wait 30 minutes for the temporary lockout to clear, then use "Forgot PIN". If still locked, call GoTyme on 0860 999 119.

"The app says my device isn't recognised"

You'll need to verify with an SMS OTP plus a fresh selfie for biometric re-match. This happens after a SIM swap, factory reset or new phone.

"I've changed my cellphone number"

Update inside the app under Settings → Profile → Cellphone Number, or call 0860 999 119 to have it changed manually.

Frequently asked questions

Has TymeBank rebranded to GoTyme?+
Yes. On 22 January 2026 TymeBank officially rebranded to GoTyme Bank, aligning with Tyme Group's Asian operations. Your account, card and login credentials all carried over automatically — you just need to download the new GoTyme Bank app from the same Play Store / App Store entry that was previously TymeBank.
Do I need to open a new account?+
No. All existing customer data — including transaction history, account numbers and card numbers — was migrated. Your old TymeBank credentials log straight into the new GoTyme Bank app.
Does GoTyme Bank have internet banking on a desktop browser?+
GoTyme is primarily a mobile-app bank. There's no full-feature internet-banking website like FNB or Standard Bank. You can sign in to gotyme.co.za for help articles and support, but transactions, transfers and statements live in the app.
How do I log in to my TymeBank / GoTyme account?+
Open the GoTyme Bank app, enter the cellphone number you registered with, then your 5-digit PIN or biometric (fingerprint / face ID). On a new device you'll be sent a one-time PIN via SMS for security.
How do I register for a TymeBank / GoTyme account?+
Download the GoTyme Bank app, enter your SA ID number, take a selfie, and the app does biometric verification with Home Affairs in minutes. No branch visit required, no proof of address needed at sign-up. You can collect a physical Visa debit card at any participating Pick n Pay, Boxer or TFG store.
I forgot my PIN — how do I reset it?+
Open the app, tap "Forgot PIN" on the login screen. The app verifies you via OTP to your registered cellphone, then via your ID number. You set a new PIN immediately. If you're locked out completely, call GoTyme on 0860 999 119.
Are TymeBank deposits safe under the new GoTyme brand?+
Yes. GoTyme Bank holds the same SARB banking licence as TymeBank did (issued in 2017) and deposits are protected under the Corporation for Deposit Insurance scheme. The rebrand is a brand change, not a legal-entity change.
How much interest does GoalSave pay?+
GoalSave pays a base 6% per year on all balances. If you give 10 days' notice before a full withdrawal (and don't make partial withdrawals during the notice period), the rate boosts to 10% — making it one of the highest no-minimum-balance savings rates in SA.
