How to Check Your DStv Balance (2025 Guide)

Worried about getting disconnected right before the big game? Checking your DStv balance has become much easier in recent years. You don't need to call the call center anymore.

Whether you have no airtime, no data, or just want a quick answer, here are the 4 fastest ways to check how much you owe MultiChoice.

1. Using USSD (No Data Needed)

This is the best method if you are offline or have no data. You do need a small amount of airtime to dial the number.

  1. Dial *120*68584# on your phone.
  2. Select Option 1 (Check Balance).
  3. Enter your ID Number or Smartcard Number when prompted.
  4. Your balance and due date will be displayed on screen.

2. Using WhatsApp

MultiChoice has a very efficient WhatsApp bot. This is free if you have a WhatsApp data bundle.

  1. Save 060 060 3788 as "DStv" on your phone.
  2. Open WhatsApp and send the word "Balance" to this number.
  3. It will ask for your ID or Smartcard number if you haven't chatted before.
  4. It replies instantly with your outstanding amount.

3. MyDStv App

If you have a smartphone, downloading the app is highly recommended. It allows you to fix errors (like E16) and upgrade/downgrade packages instantly.

  • Login with your Connect ID (Email/Phone).
  • The dashboard shows your balance immediately upon opening.

Paid but still disconnected?

If you paid your account but your TV is still showing an error (E16), do not pay again! The signal just needs a "refresh".

How to fix: Dial *120*68584#, select "Fix Errors", then select "E16". Ensure your decoder is ON when you do this.
