Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to reapply every month?

No. Once approved, you're automatically assessed each month. However, you must ensure your details are up to date and you still meet the requirements.

Can I receive the R350 grant if I have a child grant?

Yes. The Child Support Grant is the only SASSA grant you can receive alongside the SRD grant.

What if I start working after being approved?

You must report any change in circumstances. If you earn above R624/month, you'll no longer qualify. Failing to report can result in having to pay back grants received.

Can I change my banking details?

Yes. Go to srd.sassa.gov.za, click "Change Banking Details," enter your ID and phone number, and follow the prompts to update.

My status says "Approved" but I haven't received money?

Check your payment date online. If the date has passed, verify your banking details are correct. If paying via cash, ensure you're collecting from the correct location with your ID.

How long does the application take to process?

Applications are processed within a few weeks. Status checks on the website will show "Pending" during processing. If pending for over a month, contact SASSA.
