How to Check R350 SRD Grant Status

The R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant has its own dedicated portal:

Go to the SRD Website

Visit srd.sassa.gov.za on your phone or computer.

Click "Application Status"

Look for the status check option on the homepage.

Enter Your ID Number

Type in your 13-digit South African ID number.

Enter Your Phone Number

Use the same number you registered with.

View Your Status

Your application status and payment details will be displayed.

What Your Status Means

Approved

Your application was successful. Payment will be made according to the payment schedule. Check your payment date.

Pending

Your application is still being processed. This can take 2-4 weeks. Check back regularly.

Declined

Your application was not approved. A reason will be given. You can appeal within 90 days if you believe the decision was wrong.

Referred

SASSA needs more information or documents from you. Visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID.

How to Appeal a Declined Application

If your application was declined and you believe the decision was wrong, you have 90 days to appeal:

Online (R350 SRD): Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and click "Appeal" or "Submit Reconsideration"
Email: Send appeal to saboreconsideration@sassa.gov.za with your ID number

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does SASSA take to process an application?

New applications typically take 2-4 weeks. The R350 SRD grant is processed monthly, so you may need to wait until the next payment cycle.

Why does my status say "Pending" for weeks?

SASSA verifies your information against multiple databases. Delays can occur if there are verification issues. If pending for over 4 weeks, contact SASSA directly.

Can I check someone else's status?

You can only check status using the applicant's ID number and registered phone number. You cannot check on behalf of someone else without their details.

What if I changed my phone number?

You need to update your details on the SASSA website or visit a SASSA office. For the R350 grant, use the "Change Banking Details" option to update your phone number.

My payment is approved but I haven't received money?

Check your banking details are correct. For the R350 grant, you may need to collect cash at a designated point if bank payment failed. Check srd.sassa.gov.za for alternative payment options.
